Eunoia’s vision is to revive traditional bach living in a contemporary manner whereby we celebrate timeless authentic architectural design that is sympathetic to the landscape and beautifully considered for modern living.

Beautiful Thinking

The word Eunoia (pronounced “EU.NO.IA”) means “Beautiful Thinking”, and is the shortest word in the English language that contains all five vowels.

Chairman

Humphry Rolleston
Humphry Rolleston was appointed Chairman of Eunoia in September 2009. He has over 30 years’ experience as a financier and investor with an extensive background as a director of both public and private companies.

Humphry is currently a director of four New Zealand public companies:- Sky Network Television Ltd, Property for Industry Ltd, Broadway Industries Ltd and Infratil Ltd. He is Chairman of Craigpine Timber Ltd and Fraser Macandrew Ryan Ltd in New Zealand and in Australia he is Chairman of Simmonds Lumber Pty Ltd, ANZCRO Pty Ltd and a director of Lignor Pty Ltd. He also owns private businesses operating in New Zealand and the UK.
He is a fellow of both the New Zealand Institute of Directors and the New Zealand Institute of Management.

 

Design Directors - Auckland

Harriet Pilkington MAS ETH Zurich BArch(Hons 1) BAS
Harriet’s area of specialisation is sustainable, modular design and modern methods of construction. Building on sustainable building methodology experience obtained in Europe, her work has been focused on providing environmentally fitting commissions within the New Zealand context with a particular focus on housing and interiors.
She has been a member of the NZ Timber Design Society Management Committee, the New Zealand Institute of Architects (NZIA), and held an ongoing position as a Senior Design Tutor and Critic at The University of Auckland School of Architecture and at AUT University. Harriet is a director of Young + Richards Ltd.

Elvon Young MArtDes(Hons) BArch(Hons) BAS BCom
Elvon has a background in marketing, architectural design and the arts. He has been involved in many competition winning architectural projects. Elvon specialises in digital and parametric design methodologies. In addition he is an exhibited artist, with his most recent works exhibited at the City Gallery Wellington and named 2008 best interior designer by Urbis magazine.
Elvon is a past President of the Auckland Architecture Association (AAA), a member of the New Zealand Institute of Architects (NZIA), the Designers Institute of New Zealand (DINZ) and holds a long-standing tenured position at AUT University as Senior Lecturer. Elvon is a director of Young + Richards Ltd.

Blair Brown
Blair has a background in landscape design and in recent years has concentrated on project management of small to large-scale property projects. Services provided have included all aspects of land development and project management from conception to completion. It has always been Blair’s desire to be involved in projects, which have empathy with their environment, and where there is pride of ownership for all involved.

 

Advisory Board - Auckland

Mike Hutcheson
Grew up in Nelson, educated at Nelson College, Canterbury and Victoria Universities, he never finished a degree but did break the World Rocking Chair record. Discovered advertising by accident, starting his career in Wellington. Gained Diploma in Advertising, and in the process won the Trenchard-Smith Trophy for highest marks for Australia and New Zealand in the Advertising Institute Exams, and the Reader’s Digest Scholarship for New Zealand’s Outstanding Young Advertising Man.

Co-founded advertising agencies Colenso and Hutcheson Knowles Marinkovich (HKM). And culminated his career in Auckland as Managing Director of Saatchi & Saatchi.

Also set up Replica Homes, a national building franchise and ran his own real estate company.

Set up The Lighthouse Ideas Company in 2003. Joined with Dave Atkins to lead the management buyout of Image Centre in August 2008.

He contributed a regular humour column to The Independent and Unlimited for many years, his columns have been collected and published in two books, the modestly titled, “No1 Best Seller” and “Beethovens Banker and Other Stories” Also published “Kickstart Your Creativity”, co-authoured with Rebecca Webster and has just finished “Relax and Grow Rich”, co-authored with psychologist Claire Wadey.
